EXCEPT THE Lord builds the house,
they LABOR in VAIN who build it;
EXCEPT the Lord keeps the city,
the watchman WAKES BUT IN VAIN. [wakes up tired]
It is vain for you to rise up early, [get up at the crack of dawn]
to take rest late, [go to bed late or not at all]
to eat the bread of [anxious] toil—[can’t turn your mind off]
for HE GIVES [blessings] TO HIS BELOVED in SLEEP.

Lord, how much sleep have I needlessly lost while I tried to figure out how to ‘build the house’ in my mind……….over & over & over again:( I ask that You give me the power to exercise control over my SELF to stop wasting my time by useless labor of the ‘flesh’ while I should be sleeping.
