EXAMINE YOURSELF [test with the expectation of approving] to whether you are in the faith.
PROVE YOURSELVES. [whether worthy or not]
DO YOU NOT KNOW YOURSELVES [haven’t you learned many things over the years]
that Jesus Christ is in you? [He makes His home in you]PROVE YOURSELVES. [whether worthy or not]
DO YOU NOT KNOW YOURSELVES [haven’t you learned many things over the years]
—unless indeed you are disqualified. [not standing the test]

Pray the Word:
Lord, how well do I really want to know myself anyway??? . . . . . . I know that when I do examine myself, too often I turn my ‘best side’ to the mirror so as not to see the deficiencies I really do have. I want to continue to bring honor to You and Your Name. . . so, I’m asking that You show to me the side of me that needs to be fixed . . . and give me the ability [through Your Spirit’s power] to correct it.
