Take care [watch yourself!]
not to do your good deeds [acts of righteousness - charitableness, fasting, prayer] publicly or before men,
in order [with the intention] to be seen by them; [making a display of your righteousness]
otherwise you will have no reward [reserved for and awaiting you] from your Father Who is in heaven.

Pray the Word:
Lord, the true measure of our success in any part of our life is if - after You have judged it and approved it - You applaud us. Waiting and looking for applause from other people leaves us worried and anxious and will cause us to live in stress because it is fickle and fleeting. You are our only audience and we seek Your applause alone.
